The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 131 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested. Two people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Shoplifting leads to Arrest CK22009848
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman concealed approximately $475 worth of items in a bag and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. Officers located the woman a short distance away and she was taken into custody. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
The 37-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was charged with theft under $5000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Failing to Comply CK22009911
On November 10, 2021 the woman was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to remain in her residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or when in the presence of her surety.
Last night, police initiated a traffic stop on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. The woman was located in the vehicle with neither surety present.
The 37-year-old Croton woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Theft of Tools in Wallaceburg CK22009804
Sometime early yesterday morning, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into the RONA Cashway Building Centre on Murray Street, causing about $1000 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole approximately $900 worth of various DeWalt tools.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK22009907
Last night around 10:00 p.m. police responded to an alarm at the Liquidation Zone on St. Clair Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that unknown suspect(s) had forced their way into the business, causing about $5000 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $500 worth of silver jewelry.
