The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 149 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.
Man Arrested for Mischief and Uttering Threats (CK23007174)
On February 11th, 2023 at 10:30am police responded to an unwanted person complaint on Edwy Street in Wallaceburg. The occupants of the residence reported that their adult son was in attendance and were wishing him to be removed.
While in the presence of police, the son kicked over a stationary E-Bike belonging to the complainant resulting in damage being sustained to the frame. The man was subsequently arrested by police for Mischief Under $5000. Further investigation into the events prior to the arrival of police revealed that the man had also threatened his mother earlier in the day. The man was additionally charged with Uttering Threats.
The 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was ultimately transported to police headquarters where he was released a short time later on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date.
Man Arrested for Driving Offences (CK23007267)
On February 12th, 2023 at 12:38am police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of King Street West in Chatham. Through investigation, police learned that the driver was currently bound by conditions under both the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act to not operate a motor vehicle. The man was subsequently arrested by police and charged with Operation While Prohibited (Criminal Code) and three counts of Driving While Under Suspension (Highway Traffic Act). The vehicle he was operating was additionally impounded for 90 days.
The 22-year-old Florence man was released from police custody on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date.
Domestic Dispute Results in Numerous Charges (CK23007277)
On February 12th, 2023 at 2:11am police responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman in the parking lot of a business on Dufferin Ave in Wallaceburg. Through investigation, police formed grounds to arrest the involved man for one count of Assault. During the course of the arrest, the involved woman began assaulting officers in an attempt to pull the man away and prevent officers from taking him into custody. Police proceeded to gain control of the woman and placed her under arrest as well for Assaulting and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
Both the man and woman were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and later released on a Form 10 undertaking with conditions.
