The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 137 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested. Six on outstanding warrants.
RIDE Programs- CK22057446
Yesterday, the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted several RIDE Programs in Chatham and Wallaceburg. Numerous vehicles were checked with no infractions. The Chatham-Kent Police Service will be conducting frequent RIDE Programs throughout the holiday season. Please be safe this holiday season and do not drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Family Dispute leads to Arrest- CK22057512
Yesterday at approximately 5:00am, Police responded to a residence on Dover Street in Chatham regarding a Family Dispute. Police learned that a male relative had attended the residence and broke a window.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested for Mischief Under $5,000 and released with a future court date.
Watch for Wildlife
Motorists are reminded to be more vigilant on our roads, especially during dusk and dawn, which is when most collisions with deer occur.
Being aware and taking precautions can reduce collisions, save lives and protect wildlife:
- Scan the road ahead from shoulder to shoulder for any movement.
- Use high beams at night, when possible, and watch for the glowing eyes of animals.
- If an animal is crossing the road, stop as safely as possible, in your lane.
- Remember, if one animal crosses the road, others may follow.
- Never swerve suddenly. This may cause you to lose control of your vehicle, resulting in a more serious collision.
