The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 151 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter and Assault CK22060836/CK23005570
On December 27, 2023, at 10:23 p.m., police responded to Prince Arthur Avenue in Chatham for an assault.
Through investigation, police learned three young men attended a Prince Arthur Avenue home to confront another young man. The three men were met at the door by the man’s father. After arguing, the three men forced their way into the home and assaulted both men. Once police were called, the three men left the home. The victims sustained minor injuries.
Later in the evening, a 19-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarter and released with conditions and a future court date of January 23, 2023.
After several attempts to locate the other two men, warrants were issued for their arrest.
On February 2, 2023, at 9:29 a.m., a 21-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to the police. He was released with conditions and a future court date of February 6, 2023.
There is an outstanding warrant for the third man.
All three are charged with breaking and entering and assault.
Man Arrested for Careless Storage of Firearms CK23005594
At 11:29 a.m., police received a concern about the unsafe storage of numerous firearms at a home on Talbot Trail in Harwich Township.
Through investigation, police formed grounds to obtain and conduct a search warrant. The police seized several firearms and arrested the owner.
The 72-year-old Harwich Township man was charged with careless storage of firearms. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of February 6, 2023.
Woman arrested for Bail Violations CK23005655
At 6:04 p.m., police responded to James Street in Wallaceburg for a complaint of harassment.
Through investigation, police learned on January 11, 2023, the woman was charged with criminal harassment and released with conditions to not be within 100 meters of the victim’s home or business and not to communicate with them.
On February 2, 2023, at 5:39 p.m., the woman was observed honking the horn while slowly driving by the victim’s place of business.
The 62-year-old Wallaceburg woman was located and arrested. She was charged with criminal harassment and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. She was released with a future court date of March 14, 2023.
