The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 145 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and one on an outstanding warrant.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK23006463
At 11:50 a.m., police responded to Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a theft complaint.
Police learned the woman left the store with a cart full of merchandise and made no attempt to pay for them. The woman was observed entering a vehicle and leaving the area. Descriptions of the woman and her vehicle were provided to the police. Through investigation, police identified the woman.
At 1:34 p.m., the woman was located and arrested on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
The 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with theft and possession of the stolen property. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of March 6, 2023.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK23006507
At 6:02 p.m., police responded to a business on Selkirk Street in Wallaceburg for a break-and-enter in progress.
Police arrived on the scene and located the man on the property. Police also confirmed a window had been broken to the business. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 25-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with breaking and entering. He was released with conditions and a future court date of March 6, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Intoxicated in a Public Place CK23006523
At 7:40 p.m., police responded to a Tim Horton’s on Third Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Police arrived and located the woman intoxicated.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. She was issued a Provincial Offence Notice and released.
