The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 174 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Robbery CK23001588
At 10:37 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the Bank of Montreal on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Police received information the man entered the bank wearing a black medical mask and slipped the teller a note to give him all the money. Money was exchanged, and the man left. A description of the man was provided to officers as they were arriving in the area.
The man was located a short distance away and arrested.
The 29-year-old Chatham man was charged with robbery. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK23001682
At 8:28 p.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service contacted the Chatham-Kent Police Service for assistance in arresting the man as he was wanted for crimes committed in their jurisdiction.
The 40-year-old Dover Township man was located and arrested. He was turned over to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23001722
On January 11, 2023, at 2:01 a.m., an officer on general patrol observed the man walking on Murray Street in Wallaceburg. The officer recognized the man from prior interactions.
Through investigation, the officer learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant held by Lambton Ontario Provincial Police. The man was arrested. A release order also bound the man with conditions, including abstaining from purchasing or possessing any illegal drugs.
After a search, incident to arrest, suspected methamphetamine was found in his possession.
The 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and possessing a controlled substance. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Dangerous Driving CK23001731
On December 14, 2022, at 8:55 p.m., an officer driving southbound on Marlborough Street South in Blenheim observed a vehicle travelling towards him in the same lane. The officer quickly redirected his cruiser to avoid a collision.
When directed, the vehicle failed to stop and drove into a plowed field off Chatham Street South. Both occupants attempted to flee into a wooded area. After a foot chase, police arrested one person.
A 22-year-old Chatham woman was arrested. She was identified as the passenger and later released unconditionally.
The driver was identified, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 11, 2023, at 5:44 a.m., police located the man on Catherine Street in Blenheim and arrested him.
The 38-year-old Blenheim man was charged with the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from the police, operating a motor vehicle will prohibit, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
