The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 146 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Man Arrested for Criminal Harassment (CK23003850)
On January 23rd, 2023 at 7:08am police responded to an unwanted person complaint in Blenheim. Through investigation, it was learned that a man had been continually attending his mother’s residence despite being trespassed from the property and previously removed numerous times by police.
The man was subsequently located a short distance away by police and arrested for criminal harassment. The 19-year-old Blenheim man was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
Warrants (CK23003908/CK23003901)
On January 23rd, 2023 at 12:50pm a woman attended the Chatham Courthouse where she was arrested on the strength of a DNA warrant. The 46-year-old Chatham woman was released unconditionally from custody subsequent to a DNA sample being obtained.
On January 23rd, 2023 at 1:43pm a woman attended police headquarters to turn herself in on two outstanding warrants for the failing to attend court and assault. The 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the strength of these warrants and held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
Threats Complaint Leads to Numerous Charges (CK23003967/CK23003996)
On January 23rd, 2023 at 7:34pm police responded to a threats complaint at Daisy Mart Variety Store in Chatham. An employee with the business called police to report that an unknown male had entered the store and asked to use the phone. The employee declined this request due to store policy, at which point the male stated that he had a gun and was going to hurt someone. Prior to the male exiting the store, the employee observed what appeared to be a handgun and subsequently called police.
Through investigation, police were able to identify the male suspect who was located a short distance away within a residence where he, along with two other men, were arrested. A search of the residence by investigating officers resulted in a large quantity of narcotics being seized, along with a replica firearm.
A 31-year-old man was charged with uttering threats, two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
A 40-year-old man was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking.
A 23-year-old man was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
All three men were held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
