The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 139 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Robbery CK23004994
On October 20, 2022, police responded to a business on King Street West in Chatham for a robbery investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the man entered the store and demanded money. After receiving some cash, he left the store and discarded his clothes, including a scarf, gloves, and a wig. With the assistance of surveillance footage, police could track the man’s path and seized the discarded items for forensic examination.
On January 18, 2023, police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched a local man.
On January 29, 2023, the 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested. He was charged with robbery and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23005004
On January 29, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., police responded to Greenbriar Trail in Wallaceburg for a domestic disturbance.
Through investigation, police learned the man and the woman’s son were verbally arguing. When the woman intervened, the man grabbed her and pushed her, causing her to fall backwards into a wall. The woman and the children left the residence.
The 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of February 27, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23005053
On January 30, 2023, at 12:55 a.m., while on general patrol an officer observed the woman walking on Adelaide Street in Chatham. The officer recognized the woman from previous encounters.
The officer confirmed that the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and she was arrested. The woman was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a theft investigation.
The 22-year-old Chatham-Kent Woman was arrested and released with a new court date of February 27, 2023.
