The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK22054031
At 12:59 p.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Jacob Road in Dover Township.
The vehicle travelled on Jacob Road when the driver lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a hydro pole before coming to rest in a ditch.
Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
Tyler McKillican, 27 years of Chatham Township, has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He has been released with conditions pending a future court date of November 28, 2022.
Man Arrested for Theft CK22054102/4107
At 7:19 p.m., police responded to a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a shoplifting complaint.
Once on scene, police learned the man removed items from the store and left without making attempts to pay for the items. Store security detained the man and retrieved the items. Police also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
The 52-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and possession of the stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK22054126/4127
At 11:02 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned the man was wanted on a warrant held by Lambton Ontario Provincial Police and was arrested. It was also learned the court had released the man with conditions, including not possessing any unlawful drug or substance without a valid prescription.
Upon arrest, police found the man possessing a prescription of hydromorphone pills not in his name.
The 42-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
