The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 189 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Assault CK22051834
At 4:45 p.m., police responded to Queen Street North in Tilbury for a disturbance. Two men were arguing, and one man was holding a large knife.
Police arrived on the scene and located one man. The other man left before the police arrived.
Through investigation, police learned the men had been drinking together earlier in the day before the altercation. The man had threatened the other man with the knife before the knife was taken from him. Police also learned the court had released the man with conditions not to be outside his residence with alcohol inside his body.
At 4:51 p.m., police located the man and arrested him. During a search, incident to arrest, suspected cocaine was found in his pocket.
The 20-year-old Tilbury man was charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man and Woman Arrested for Bail Violations CK22051887/CK22051892
At 10:24 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Second Street in Chatham.
Police learned the woman driving, and the male passenger were both on conditions not to communicate with each other. They were both arrested.
The 32-year-old Chatham woman and 27-year-old Chatham man were both charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. They were transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of November 28, 2022.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK22051902
On November 4, 2022, at 1:00 a.m., police responded to a business on Merritt Avenue in Chatham for a break and enter. An employee monitoring the property via surveillance observed the man enter the fenced property through a hole in the fence, remove equipment from a vehicle, and place it outside the fence at the point of entry.
Police arrived on the scene and located the man. The man attempted to flee but was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Upon arrest, police learned he was bound by a condition to be inside his residence between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with breaking and entering, possessing property obtained by crime and failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
